The Virtues of Funeral Prayer

Engaging in the Funeral Prayer carries numerous virtues. It is narrated in a Hadith by Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, Whoever follows a funeral procession until the prayer is offered and then he returns will have a reward equal to two Qirats; and whoever stays until the burial is completed will have a reward equal to three Qirats  (Sahih Bukhari).
